The Orwellian Newspeak of Press TV

In the Name of My Father:
American conservative, Dr. Adrian Krieg of A2ZPublications.com, reminds us in his The New American Newspeak Dictionary, that governments, especially totalitarian ones, employ language in a way designed to deceive and to obfuscate the truth for both those governed by the nation-state, and the larger community of nations to which the nation-state allegedly belongs.
No better example of deceptive language by government and state-owned media can be produced than Press TV’s story, entitled “Tehran to Compensate Post-Vote Victims,” posted on August 18th.
The rigged character of the June 12th elections, the Mullahs’ control of Iranian State Media, and the violent suppression of legitimate dissent from the electoral fraud perpetrated by the Islamic Republic, are all a matter of public record. Damage to the global reputation of the IRI regime in Tehran has reached such proportions that the “compensation” program announced August 18th by Press TV became necessary as a desperate attempt to reclaim international opinion catastrophically lost by the Mullahs since the June 12th farce and its bitter aftermath.
Yet any analysis of the statements of Tehran governor, Hossein Tala, underscores the hopeless character of the political position of the Mullahs and the doomed character of the reign of Mr. Ahmadinejad.
Mr. Tala, in describing the “compensation” program offered to victims of the events of the last 2 months, maintains a straight face in attaching the caveats of Newspeak to the Mullahs’ latest PR outreach in a way surprising even to George Orwell and Dr. Adrian Krieg.
Here is the bottom line. The Mullahs want the international community and the Iranian people to focus upon Mr. Tala’s statement that, “Following the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s order to compensate those families who have fallen victim to the post-election incidents, the government is ready to pay indemnities to individuals who have suffered damages.”
But the caveats of Newspeak delegitimize any credibility from the “Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s order.” They are as follows:
1. Only those who have not committed “provocative” acts are eligible. [The Mullahs, in the interest of Theocratic Newspeak, will define what constitutes "provocative" acts.]
2. Victims within Tehran Province should provide the Tehran Governor’s Office [Mr. Tala's office] with “evidences” to prove damages inflicted in post-election unrest.
3. The Tehran Governor’s Office will “investigate” the “credibility” of the applicants’ claims, before awarding any indemnities.
I believe Dr. Adrian Krieg would agree with my assessment that in the final days of its historical existence, a totalitarian government reaches the point where its Newspeak deceives only its perpetrators, not its intended targets and victims. Hossein Tala’s babblings of August 18th for Press TV confirm that the Mullahs’, Mr. Ahmadinejad, and their doctrine of velayat-e-faqeh, have reached this point-of-no-return.
They are finished. Only the final date of death for the Death Certificate, and the signature of the Certifying Physician, remain to be determined.
The Day of Redemption for the Iranian people and Nation draw near. We are ready and waiting.
